About

ronaldvanderwijden.com is the virtual foothold of Ronald van der Wijden.

Born and raised in the Netherlands, until recently Ronald spent his professional life as an application engineer for a large Dutch bank, designing and building COBOL programs for a mainframe environment.
Since a reorganisation in the ICT Department, resulting in his former job being offshored to India, Ronald has accepted a job as a consultant at a software house in the Netherlands, Centric Information Engineering, which has hired him back to the bank to keep up continuity in an organisation in transition.
These activities have drawn to a close after another 13 months, and Ronald started at a new assignment, again at a large dutch bank.

Since several years, web development has become a growing interest. Many publications on various web related topics, as well as a plethora of online resources have helped built his knowledge on markup, styling, etc. He can be found on a regular basis as ronaldb66 at CodingForums where he learns and gains experience through attempting to help out others.

After having taken up some PHP development recently as a “pro bono” activity, the dormant aspiration to make web development a professional career has had a slight boost. This website is just one aspect of this aspiration; let’s face it, what web professional is going to be taken seriously if he doesn’t have his own site?

If, when and how this career takes shape, you’ll learn about it here first!
